Care guide

Jacquard terry is plain cotton, so it is easy to look after. A few habits keep the colours sharp and the loops even.

Before the first use

• Wash every piece before you use it. New terry contains finishing residues from weaving.
• Wash dark and mint pieces on their own for the first two or three washes. The colour is in the yarn, and some loose dye can come out at first.

Washing

• Towels, beach towels, robes and hair wraps: 40 °C, normal cycle, with similar colours.
• Wash bags: empty them, close the zip, 30 °C on a gentle cycle.
• Use a normal amount of detergent. Too much leaves residue in the loops.
• Do not use fabric softener. It coats the cotton loops.
• Do not use bleach or optical brighteners; they change the two colours of the pattern.

Drying

• Tumble dry on a low setting, or line dry. Shaking the piece out before drying lifts the loops.
• Wash bags: reshape and line dry only.
• Do not iron the terry. If you want a flat edge, iron only the plain woven band at the ends.

Pulled loops

If a loop catches and pulls out, do not pull it further. Snip it off level with the other loops with small scissors; terry is woven so that one cut loop does not unravel the rest.

Storing and hanging

• Hang towels flat and straight on a rail to see the pattern at its best, and to let them dry evenly.
• Strong direct sunlight fades any dyed cotton over time; avoid drying dark pieces in full sun for long periods.
